New Year Resolution Realignment

IMG_2956The end of the first month in the year 2014 is about to be in the past. How are those resolutions and goals going for the year so far? Are they still goals of yours? I feel that the month end gives me a chance to reevaluate how my goals are going and recalibrate myself if needed in order to accomplish my goals or even set new ones. I have to admit, I have stayed true to some of my 2014 goals and there are others I have severely neglected. I recently had a significant knee surgery that came with it intense rehab and exercise goals.

The 2014 goals that I have neglected severely is to recommit myself to writing and take a more active role in my passion for fatherhood. I have a passion for fatherhood and I can only share that passion if I take the time to engage myself with the blog and writing. I have had the best intentions over these past few weeks to post something but failed to do so. So here I am recommiting myself on this day to bettering myself as a father and as an aspiring blogger.

I can tell you that all is well with the knee and my regiment of fitness and rehab has been stellar. Another 2014 goal of mine is to read more books. One of the first steps of this goal was to seek out an online profile through Goodreads and find an admired friend of mine who I find to be very  intelligent, knowledgeable, well read, a great father, and extremely funny. I began by checking out at my local library my friends top three books listed within his profile. One of the books I am currently reading is How to Win Friends and Influence People By Dale Carnegie, and in the first chapter I found and inspiring thought especially for fathers.

“You can make more friends in 2 months by becoming genuinely interested in other people than you can in two years trying to get people interested in you.”

As I better myself as a friend and father by reading, I ask you my reading audience;

What father related books have made you better or make you a better dad? What are your top three favorite father books?

How do you realign your resolutions?

One Response to New Year Resolution Realignment

    Realignment is critical to any sort of success. We can’t live in the belief that we will just never slip and fall.

    For me the best way to ensure I renew my goals is to set aside time as a routine to plan. I try to do this weekly as I look at my calendar and consider my priorities.
